Mariners News

The Mariners fell short of their sweep attempt this afternoon.

They lost to the Phillies 6-0 in the final game of their homestand at T-Mobile Park. Philadelphia thumped Bryan Woo for six runs over the first two innings and never looked back.

Seattle managed just two hits as their previously surging offense fell flat. They now await the results of the Astros and Rangers, who each play tonight.

The Mariners currently sit three games back from the first-place Astros with 28 games left in the regular season.

They have the day off tomorrow before heading off on a six-game road trip, starting in Toronto on Friday.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks are one step closer to officially coming under new ownership.

NFL owners voted unanimously today to approve the record $9.6 billion sale of the Seahawks to a group led by Vinod Khosla.

Khosla will have to relinquish his stake in the 49ers as part of his agreement to buy the Seahawks.

The Seattle Times reports that the sale is expected to be finalized in the next week.

Meanwhile, Soundgarden announced that it will reunite to play halftime of the Seahawks’ season opener at Lumen Field on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Sounders News

The Sounders are bringing in a new addition to help solve their struggles.

The club announced yesterday that they’ve acquired striker Dejan Joveljić from Sporting Kansas City.

Seattle forked over $6 million in the cash-for-player trade.

Joveljic scored a team-leading eight goals this season for Kansas City, which owns the worst record in the MLS.

It comes as the Sounders have been outscored 19-4 over their current nine-match winless streak. They’ll look to get their first MLS win in over three months on Saturday when they host Chicago Fire FC.
