BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A longtime family destination in downtown Bellingham is closing its doors for good.
Mindport Exhibits Executive Director Tallie Jones announced on Tuesday, June 4 that the museum is permanently closing after 29 years of operation.
Jones says the decision stems from a few factors, including the retirement of Mindport’s founding director in 2019 and the end of funding from a donor who has supported the business for decades. Jones says the exact closing date will be announced soon, but they have committed to remaining open into the fall of 2024.
Mindport Exhibits first opened in 1995 as an interactive museum for all ages with custom made exhibits that “explore the intersection between art and science.” It currently offers admission set at a sliding scale from $0 – $10 per visitor.
Jones says conversations with a potential new owner for the property at 210 W. Holly St. are underway and expects an announcement to be made soon.
