MERIDIAN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Meridian School District is preparing for a change in leadership.
The district is reminding families that Dr. Kurt Harvill is taking over as interim superintendent on July 1.
Harvill has held multiple positions with the district since 2011, most recently as the assistant superintendent.
Current Superintendent Dr. James Everett is leaving Meridian to take the same job in Anacortes. The announcement was originally made in March. Everett has been at the helm of Meridian’s public education system since 2018.
The Meridian school board will begin its search for a permanent replacement this fall, with a selection expected to be made in the early spring of 2027.
It comes as the district presented its finalized budget for the upcoming school year Wednesday, May 27, which did not include any significant cuts or staff reductions.
