BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A woman has been arrested after allegedly swinging a machete inside a Bellingham healthcare clinic.

Bellingham Police say officers responded Thursday morning to Unity Care on Unity Street after reports of a patient threatening people in the lobby with a machete. Investigators say the 62-year-old woman pulled the weapon from her bag and swung it at an employee, cutting a gash in the victim’s sweater. She then allegedly shattered Plexiglas partitions, and a piece of debris struck a second person in the face, causing a cut.

The woman dropped the machete when officers arrived. She was arrested without further incident and booked into the Whatcom County Jail
