Lynden roundabout nearing completion as Mount Vernon bridge closes

LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Roundabout construction is nearly complete in Lynden.

WSDOT says that traffic will be reduced to one lane on E Badger Road at Benson Road starting at 7 p.m. Monday, July 27.

Crews will be installing new pavement markings within the new roundabout through 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 28.

Access to Benson Road through E Badger Road will be limited during the construction period.

The roundabout will fully open to all traffic once the work is complete.

Ferndale drivers beware as Pioneer Days Parade planned

In Ferndale, drivers should expect heavier than normal traffic and road closures Saturday, July 25 for the Pioneer Days parade.

Crews will begin closing select alleys at 8 a.m., with temporary street closures and alley access restrictions remaining in place during the event.

All affected streets and alleys are expected to reopen by 2 p.m.

Mount Vernon bridge to close to prep for repainting

Further south, folks may have to take some detours as they take in the sights of Skagit County.

WSDOT will be closing the sidewalk in both directions across the Division Street bridge in Mount Vernon as soon as Tuesday, July 28.

Closures will be intermittent, as crews will be sand blasting the bridge to prepare for a full repaint.

Van services will be available during the closures to help those with ADA needs cross the river. No set dates have been announced, but work will be limited to 7 a.m. through 7 p.m.
