BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham is now home to the longest public pier in the state.

Extending more than 1,200′ over Bellingham Bay, Little Squalicum Pier will open for public use by the end of the day on Saturday, April 5, for the first time since its construction in 1912.

The Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department says the pier was originally built to carry railcars before a portion of it was donated to the city in 2021. The city then set out on a project to offer the public views of Bellingham Bay that could only be seen by boat in the past.

Little Squalicum Park and the newly renovated pier will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The city is hosting a public ribbon cutting ceremony in the parking lot on Marine Drive at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
