WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Daylight Saving Time kicks in on Sunday, March 8, so we will unfortunately have one less hour to enjoy the weekend. But fear not. There will be plenty of time to catch up on sleep after enjoying everything we have on the docket in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

Spring is just around the corner and flowers are starting to bloom in Skagit County. Tulip Valley Farms (15245 Bradshaw Rd., Mount Vernon) is hosting the La Conner Daffodil Festival from March 6 to March 29. Visitors can wander through fields while taking in spectacular views and hand-picking daffodils.

The festival also features mini highland cows courtesy of Compact Cattle Company.

The La Conner Daffodil Festival at Tulip Valley Farms is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For all the details, go to tulipvalley.com.

If you are a fan of beer, skiing and The Boss, you are in luck. Kulshan Brewing is hosting Denim and Diamonds: Bruce Springskiing Karaoke Night at the K2 location (1538 Kentucky St., Bellingham) on Friday, March 6 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The event is a celebration of Bruce Springsteen, skiing and Whatcom County beer culture. In addition to the release of their classic hazy IPA, karaoke will start at 8 p.m. so attendees can sing their favorite Springsteen songs.

For all the details, go to kulshanbrewing.com.

Do you love a good story? If so, head to the Mount Baker Theatre on Saturday, March 7 for The Moth Mainstage: American Dreams. Performers will tell true stories that explore the idea of the American Dream.

The Moth is a nonprofit founded in 1997 that has presented over 60,000 stories at thousands of events across the country.

The Moth Mainstage starts at 7:30 p.m. For tickets, go to mountbakertheatre.org.

The first featured live show in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout is in Lynden at the Jansen Art Center (321 Front St.)

Jansen Jazz Orchestra features musicians committed to the traditions of the great swing bands of the 1930s and 1940s. The performance also fuses jazz, rock, Motown, blues and more.

Jansen Jazz Orchestra runs twice on Saturday. There are shows at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. For all the details and to buy tickets, go to jansenartcenter.org.

Fans of rock should plan on heading to the Shakedown in Bellingham on Saturday night for an absolute ripper of a show.

Bellingham’s Dryland will bring their brand of heavy metal rock-and-roll to the stage for a night of good old-fashioned beer-soaked fun. Fans of Red Fang, Danzig and Federation X don’t want to miss this one.

Opening for Dryland are Seattle’s A Collective Subconscious, Maxx Shedroom, and The Arson Union. Get your tickets while they’re hot at shakedownbellingham.com.
