BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The big Super Bowl matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots is this Sunday. We aren’t going to inundate you with Super Bowl options. You will either be hosting a watch party, attending someone else’s watch party, heading out to a local sports bar or brewery to watch the game, or huddled nervously alone on your couch praying to the football Gods.

Whatever you have planned for Super Bowl Sunday, please do it safely. We would also like to remind all the Hawks fans listening that Super Bowl weekend is not everyone’s cup of tea. So, whatever you do for the big game, please do it respectfully and make sure it is memorable for everyone. Win or lose, let’s make sure this Super Bowl is memorable for all the RIGHT reasons.

If you’re looking for something to pass the time before the big game, or just want to do something else entirely, we have you covered in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

Look sharp, ladies. That’s What She Said, a story-telling event at The Commons in Bellingham (1029 North Garden St.), is on Friday, Feb. 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Told by women for women, these five- to ten-minute-long stories will offer an opportunity for women to speak, listen and support each other. Charcuterie and wine will be offered during the event.

That’s What She Said is open to all women ages 16 and older. For tickets, go here.

If you are looking to stock up on some local seafood for Super Bowl Sunday, you are in luck. The Bellingham Dockside Market is on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fisherman’s Pavilion (2599 S. Harbor Loop Drive).

SNAP beneficiaries can use EBT cards at the information table to purchase Dockside tokens for use at participating vendors. For all the details, go to portofbellingham.com.

If you are looking for something to do outside before the Super Bowl, head to Lake Padden for a stroll and some birding.

Sunday Morning Bird Walk: Winter Birds of Lake Padden runs from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Feb. 8. Participants will likely see a wild variety of ducks, Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles and more. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a Red-breasted Nuthatch.

To register for Sunday Morning Bird Walk, go to birdbellingham.org.

We have two featured live shows for you in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

First up, Mardi Gras North: A Dixieland Concert is on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Firehouse Arts Center in Fairhaven (1314 Harris Ave). Enjoy the festive atmosphere of Mardi Gras with music from the Bellingham Dixieland All Stars and the only Brolly Parade in the county.

To attend Mardi Gras North, there is a suggested $25 donation at the door.

Up next, The Shakedown in Bellingham is hosting a night of heavy metal on Saturday. Bellingham’s Inpathos play a brand of heavy music with a focus on melodic riffs, brutal lyrics and, of course, blast beats. Fans of In Flames, Slayer and At The Gates don’t want to miss this one.

Opening for Inpathos are Wet Temple and Oath Ov Hatred. For tickets, go to shakedownbellingham.com.
