Lifestyle Lookout: Family picnics, Team USA soccer watch party and live music

It’s late July and that means it’s time for the Whatcom County Old Settlers to put on their annual Picnic at Pioneer Park in Ferndale. The fun kicks off at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26 with log cabin tours, the kid’s pioneer corral, crafts and food and the adult dance in the Red Barn.

On Saturday, July 27, the fun starts at 9 a.m. with the Pioneer Classic Car Show at Central Elementary School and the Pioneer Old Settlers Grand Parade. There’s also live music abound on Saturday with The Jaded Lovers taking the Pioneer Park Main Stage at 2 p.m. followed by the Bellingham Dixieland All-Stars at 4 p.m. Then, Saturday’s adult dance at the Red Barn runs from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.

The York Yard Crawl in Bellingham is on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. It’s a neighborhood-wide art walk with yard sales, live music and garden parties. Residents of the York neighborhood will also host kids’ activities for all-ages fun.

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics are off and running and Kulshan Brewing and the Port of Bellingham are hosting a Team USA Watch Party on Bellingham’s waterfront. On Sunday, the Women’s soccer match against Germany will be projected on a giant screen at the Trackside Beer Garden. The game starts at noon.

Starting at 11:15 a.m., the first 100 people will get free FIFA swag, so you’ll want to get there early. They’ll also be handing out raffle tickets for a half-time prize giveaway. Plus, former Seattle Sounder Taylor Graham will be there doing a meet and greet. The Team USA Watch Party is free and all-ages.
