WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – This weekend’s dreary forecast got you down? Fear not. We have a ton of fun activities on deck in this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

Bellingham Exit kicked off on Wednesday, Oct. 8 and continues through Sunday, Oct. 12. The five-day festival features live music, art, comedy and dance parties at venues across downtown Bellingham.

Headliners this year include Lucinda Williams, Demetri Martin, Joy Oladokun, Lucero and Amigo the Devil. Bellingham Exit is similar to festivals like SXSW and Treefort, with artists transforming venues into art installations for musicians, artists and attendees to intermingle.

Not to be outdone by the City of Subdued Excitement, Lynden is hosting a music festival of its own. The 2025 Lynden Music Festival opened on Tuesday, Oct. 7 and runs through Sunday.

Businesses along Front Street will host artists performing classical, polka, bluegrass and more. It all wraps up on Saturday with renowned 60s tribute band Sixtiesmania at the WECU Expo Building at the Fairgrounds.

Tickets are required for some of the performances but there are plenty of free shows too.

KGMI’s Dianna Hawryluk talked to Doug Broersma about the Lynden Music Festival:

Fans of oysters are in luck this weekend.

The 5th annual Blaine Oyster Fest is on Saturday. Centered around H Street Plaza and Drayton Harbor Oysters, the festival features oyster shucking competitions, chainsaw carving, live music, fun kids’ activities and, of course, a seagull imitation contest.

For all the details, go to draytonharboroysters.com.

October is here and that means it’s time for Doctober at the Pickford Film Center. Running though Oct. 26, the documentary film festival features films from around the world, filmmaker presentations, group discussions and more.

Doctober is the largest documentary festival in the Pacific Northwest and features a little something for everyone.

Our featured live show this week is part of Bellingham Exit.

On Saturday night, country music icon Lucinda Williams will perform at the Mount Baker Theatre. The 67-year-old Grammy-winning artist blends the sounds of the American South with classic country twang and modern pop sensibilities.

Opening for Lucinda Williams is acclaimed singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun. For tickets, go to the Bellingham Exit website or mountbakertheatre.org.
