WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – We’re in for plenty of hot weather to kick off the first half of the week.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle said a heat advisory will be in effect starting at 11 a.m. Monday, June 22 through 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

Temperatures could reach 88 degrees in Lynden and Bellingham, on track to break records in both areas.

Red flag warnings aren’t in effect, but the NWS said the heat brings a higher risk of brush and wildfires.

Residents are being advised to stay in shaded areas, hydrate and wear loose fitting clothes to beat the heat.
