WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Prices at the pump are continuing to climb across the state.

AAA reports that the average gallon of gas in Whatcom County currently costs $5.35.

That’s nearly 16 cents higher than a week ago and 40 cents higher than a month ago.

Whatcom County is still the sixth-cheapest county in the state for gas. Skagit County is just a bit less expensive, with the average price jumping by 12 cents over the past week to $5.30 per gallon.

It comes as the national average of $4.15 per gallon just set an all-time Labor Day record at the pump, breaking the previous record from 2012.
