SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Three people, including a Florida police detective, have been arrested in connection with a fraud investigation in Skagit County.

The Sedro-Woolley Police Department says an elderly resident reported that more than a million dollars had been taken from their bank account earlier this year.

Detectives have since served over 50 search warrants to track the money as it moved through multiple companies and bank accounts.

With help from the FBI and U.S. Postal Service, they learned that the Davie Police Department in Florida was investigating the same suspects with many more victims. Nationwide arrest warrants were issued for three suspects who were taken into custody on Thursday, Aug. 13.

According to Sedro-Woolley Police, one of the suspects is a detective with the Miami Shores Police Department and another is also from Florida, while the third is from New York state. All three remain in custody pending extradition to Washington state.

Police aren’t releasing any more information at this time, as the case remains under active investigation.
