Everett man accused of assault with a knife in Bellingham sentenced in court

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – One of two suspects accused of assaulting a man with a knife in Bellingham has been sentenced.

Court documents state that 18-year-old Jose Juarez-Montez of Everett will spend the next three years in prison after pleading guilty to an assault charge.

Juarez-Montez and a second suspect challenged a third person to a fight near downtown Bellingham in June.

During the altercation, the victim was stabbed in the back twice and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that at least one of the suspects was found near the crime scene with blood on his hands.

A trial date for the other 25-year-old male suspect has been scheduled for January.
