BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Construction will begin soon to make a busy intersection in Fairhaven a bit safer.

The City of Bellingham says crews will start installing a new traffic signal at the intersection of 12th Street, Mill Avenue and Finnegan Way on Monday, Sept. 29.

According to the city, the intersection sees more than 10,000 vehicles every day.

That number is also expected to grow with new development in the area.

Drivers should expect one-lane closures with flaggers guiding traffic during construction.

Work is expected to continue through mid-October.
