BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – More closures could be coming for Whatcom County Rite Aids.

The company filed a motion in federal bankruptcy court Wednesday to allow for the closure of over 100 stores nationwide.

Two of the listed locations are on 36th Street and Sunset Drive in Bellingham. Other stores slated to close within the state include locations in Seattle, Spokane and Oak Harbor.

Rite Aid also asked for the court to delay any upcoming closures to July 31 instead of a previously decided upon date of May 31. The motion must be approved before the closures are formally announced.

Last fall, half of Bellingham’s Rite Aids closed during a wide-ranging mass closure.

If these planned closures occur, only one Rite Aid on Northwest Avenue in Bellingham will be open. The Ferndale and Lynden locations will also stay open.
