BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Police are asking for the public’s help following a knife attack in Blaine.

They said in a statement that officers responded to the attack at Montford Park just after 8 p.m. Monday night, Aug. 17. The victim said that the suspect had jumped out and swung a knife at them, leaving a gash above their eye.

Deputies from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and Bellingham Police K-9s attempted to track the suspect without any luck.

He’s described as a white male around 6 feet tall between the ages of 25-35, last seen wearing ripped jeans and a red and black flannel jacket. Neighbors later provided security footage of the suspected attacker walking south on Blaine Road prior to the incident.

Blaine Police believe this was a random, isolated attack and that there’s no threat to the public at this time.

Anyone with security footage between 6:30 and 8:30 Monday night is asked to contact the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office as soon as possible.
