Mariners News

The Mariners are looking to rebound from a rough showing to even their series against Detroit tonight.

The M’s were stumped 8-0 by the Tigers in their series opener last night. Detroit’s Troy Melton tossed seven scoreless innings and the Tigers pounced on Seranthony Dominguez in his Mariners debut, scoring four runs off two homers in the ninth.

Seattle’s lineup managed just four hits and Brendan Donovan went 0-4 in his first game back since mid-May.

Bryan Woo will look to get them back on track tonight with a chance to continue his dominance at T-Mobile Park this season. Coverage begins at 5:30 and first pitch is at 6:40 on KPUG.

Bells News

The Bells are wrapping up their regular season in Bellingham tonight.

They’re playing a rubber match against the Edmonton Riverhawks. Bellingham used a three-run sixth inning to earn a 4-3 win last night and even the series.

The Bells have already clinched home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs this weekend, but the Hawks are playing with their season on the line. Edmonton is currently tied with Kelowna for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division.

First pitch is at 6:35 from Joe Martin Field. Tonight’s post-game fireworks have been called off due to wildfire smoke.

The Bells’ next home game takes place on Saturday in Game 2 against a to-be-determined opponent.

Huskies Football News

The Huskies made the cut in the first college football rankings of the season.

UW came in at #19 in the preseason coaches poll released today. They’re one of eight Big Ten teams in the poll.

Ohio State and Oregon were ranked 1 and 2, respectively, and defending champion Indiana was #6. USC, Michigan and Penn State also came in ahead of UW, while the coaches gave the Huskies the edge over Iowa.

Former Huskies coach Kalen DeBoer and Alabama were ranked 11th.

Washington’s schedule includes matchups against five of the Big Ten’s ranked teams. They kick off their season against Washington State in the Apple Cup on Sunday, Sept. 6.

NFL News

One of the final dominoes of NFL free agency has fallen.

ESPN reports the Washington Commanders are signing Stefon Diggs to a one-year deal worth up to $12 million.

The 32-year-old receiver will join Terry McLaurin as another established target for the Commanders.

Diggs, a 4x Pro Bowler and former All-Pro, caught for over 1,000 yards last season with New England. He’ll now join his third team in as many seasons.

Storm News

The Storm have another chance to snap their skid in the Big Apple tonight.

They’re playing the New York Liberty for the second time in three days. The Storm fell by 12 points on Monday as their losing streak extended to nine.

Tonight’s game tips off at 4:00.
