BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A school bus was involved in a traffic collision on Monday afternoon, causing a short road closure on Lakeway Drive.

Bellingham Police spokesperson Lt. Claudia Murphy says the Bellingham Public Schools (BPS) bus was conducting a turn from Old Woburn Street onto Lakeway Drive when the collision occurred.

BPS employees arrived at the scene, along with Bellingham Police, to check on the remaining students on the bus. None of the students reported injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle reported minor injuries.

BPS spokesperson Dana Smith tells My Bellingham Now that a replacement bus was dispatched to the scene of the collision to take the students home.

“We appreciate the immediate support of our first responders to help us and our students,” Smith said.

Through traffic on Lakeway Drive has reopened as of 4:57 p.m.
