BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A new survey finds Bellingham is the top small city in Washington in which to start a business.

But we don’t look as inviting when compared to other small cities around the nation.

Wallethub.com analyzed over 1,300 cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000. Bellingham ranked 265th based on its business environment, access to resources and business costs.

The cost for businesses including labor, office space affordability and overall cost of living pulled Bellingham down the rankings the most. It also got a fairly low grade for business environment but was helped by access to resources including an educated and sizable workforce.

By comparison, Mount Vernon ranked 475th on the list.
