BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham man is in custody following a pursuit that led law enforcement inside the Lynden city limits.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater says that deputies were initially called to a home around 9 a.m. on Tuesday after two people inside were pepper sprayed.

The victims added that the suspect, identified as a 30-year-old man, had also lit a car on fire outside the home before leaving in a different vehicle.

Several patrol cars and an Air and Marine helicopter found the suspect on Noon Road, initiating a short pursuit.

During that time, the suspect rammed a Lynden Police patrol car, hit another vehicle on Hannegan Road, and drove into a ditch.

The suspect was taken into custody and faces several charges, including first degree arson.
