BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – There’s plenty of chances to support those in need ahead of SNAP benefits likely going dark next month.

The Salvation Army is partnering with Walmart to host food drives across the state this weekend.

One of the drives will take place at the Bellingham Walmart on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Community members are encouraged to bring non-perishables, boxed meals and canned proteins to the drive.

KIRO reports that a similar drive will also be taking place in Anacortes on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Bellingham Food Bank says it’s started to double its weekly food spending budget in an effort to support those affected by SNAP’s looming suspension.

You can find out more ways to give back at bellinghamfoodbank.org.
