BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – You may want to renew your driver’s license or car tabs soon if you’ve been putting it off.

The state Department of Licensing announced that it’s closing its Bellingham office for maintenance from Feb. 13 through March 4.

In the meantime, online services remain available 24/7 at dol.wa.gov.

Anyone who needs in-person service during the three-week closure is being directed towards locations in Mount Vernon or Smokey Point.

It comes as the DOL is warning residents of new scam text messages that are circulating.

Scammers are sending claims of false tickets and asking for money.

The department is urging people never to click on any links in any suspected scam message.
