Bellingham and Lynden teachers honored with Whatcom County Educator of the Year awards

WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The results are in for Whatcom County’s Educator of the Year awards.

Brown and Brown Insurance awarded $5,000 to the two winning educators on Friday, May 16.

Riley Liddle received the public school prize, while the private school award was given to Dave Tjoelker.

Liddle teaches career and technical education at Squalicum High School and was noted for being passionate about robotics. Tjoelker spent many years at Lynden Christian Middle School before moving to the high school to teach bible classes and language arts.

Both men, along with seven other nominees, were honored for their work during a ceremony in Lynden.
