WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Whatcom County residents should keep an eye turned to their mailbox beginning later this week.

Ballots are planned to be mailed out to county residents starting on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Voters will decide on a state constitutional amendment, local initiatives, numerous council races on the city and county levels, school district directors and a Port of Bellingham seat.

Residents will also vote whether to approve 12 propositions put together by the county’s Charter Review Commission, adding more commissioners to the Port as well as a couple of levies and bonds.

People have until election day to mail in their ballots; however the Secretary of State’s website warns that ballots postmarked after election day will not be counted.

When dropping off ballots, residents can put them in the mail or dropped off at secure ballot boxes throughout the county.

If using a ballot box, votes must be in the box by 8 p.m. on Nov. 4.

My Bellingham Now previously reported Ferndale’s ballot drop box has been temporarily moved to the Pioneer Pavilion as construction gets underway for the new civic building.

A full list of the current locations of the ballot drop boxes throughout Whatcom County can be found on our Voting Information page.
