BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Results from this month’s primary election were certified on Friday, August 18th, and voter turnout was higher here in Whatcom County compared to the rest of the state.

The Washington Secretary of State says more than 1.1 million voters across the state participated.

Just over 35% of registered voters in Whatcom County returned their ballot.

That was higher than the state average, where voter turnout sat just under 29%.

Incumbents Seth Fleetwood and Satpal Sidhu will try to keep their seat against newcomers Kim Lund and Dan Purdy in two of the major races in November’s general election.
