Teachers at a second Western Washington school district have voted to go on strike and a third strike vote is looming.
KOMO reports member of the Port Angeles Education Association have decided to strike rather than work without a contract.
The current teachers’ contract expires Wednesday, August 31 and the union says it asked the district to begin negotiations last spring.
Thursday, Sept. 1 is the first day of school in Port Angeles and the district says on its website that it’s committed to resolving the situation and getting students in class as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, teachers in Kent remain on strike and Seattle teachers are likely to vote on a walkout this weekend.
