WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The Nooksack Tribe is going solar.
Puget Sound Energy says they have awarded a green power grant to the Nooksack Indian Tribe for a solar project.
The tribe will install solar panels on top of a warehouse that was constructed to house supplies they used to fight the pandemic.
Moving forward, that warehouse will provide options in case there is a need for an emergency clinic and sleeping quarters.
PSE says the project should generate over 49,000 kilowatt hours every year.
The money is part of $900,000 in green power grants the utility company has awarded so far this year.
