BLAINE, Wash. A two-car accident in Blaine on Monday caused a citywide power outage and an estimated $100,000 in damage to City property.

According to Sargeant Michael Munden, Blaine Police responded to a two-car collision on Hughes Avenue near Odell Street at about 3:30pm.

Apparently a sedan traveling southbound on Odell Street failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a pickup truck that was driving westbound on Sweet Road.

The crash sent the truck careening into a City of Blaine power box, which caused a power outage throughout most of the City for several hours.

There were no major injuries, but both vehicles were severely damaged.
