Lynden teen, former “Toddlers and Tiaras” star, passes away

LYNDEN, Wash. – A Lynden High School student who gained fame as a pageant contestant when she was five years old has died.

Her mother posted on social media that 16-year-old Kailia Posey passed away suddenly on Monday, May 2nd.

A cause of death has not been released.

Kailia was a contestant on TLC’s “Toddlers and Tiaras” show in 2012 when she was five years old.

A meme of her grinning went viral at the time.

She has since gone on to compete in other pageants including Miss Teen Washington in 2021.

Her bio says she was a contortionist who hoped to become a commercial pilot.

Her mother is asking for privacy for the family during this difficult time.

People magazine reports the Whatcom County Sheriff, State Patrol and Blaine Police Department are part of a multi-agency investigation into Kailia’s death.
