BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A federal grant will pay for new tsunami simulation animations set in Bellingham Bay.

The Department of Natural Resources released videos in August showing tsunami impacts on the entire Washington coast as well as some detailed views in Bellingham and the San Juan Islands.

The state’s military department says a new grant will pay for even more simulations, specifically focused on Bellingham, Anacortes and Southwest Washington.

The funds will also be used to upgrade all of Washington’s tsunami sirens and to provide more public education, outreach and better modeling to get residents prepared for tsunamis.
