FERNDALE, Wash. – The City of Ferndale and the owners of the so-called “Clocktower” house on Main Street have resolved their legal disputes over the unusual building.
City Communications Director Riley Sweeney says the state Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the city in November and, after almost 10 years of legal wrangling, Artus and Margaret Rojsza have agreed to follow city building codes.
Sweeney says they are still negotiating over a spire the Rojszas are installing on the house, but that’s part of the permitting process and isn’t a legal dispute.
He expects the couple will continue to add on to the house and the city won’t stand in their way as long as they follow building codes.
Mirrored siding was among the many code violations Sweeney says the Rojsza’s had committed over the years.
