Birch Bay fire injures two people, kills several dogs

BIRCH BAY, Wash. – Two people were hurt and several dogs were killed in a house fire in Birch Bay early Friday.

North Whatcom Fire and Rescue Chief William Pernett says fire fighters responded just before 2 a.m. to find a cabin in the 8100 block of Birch Bay Drive and a storage building on fire.

Two residents were taken to St. Joseph Hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation.

The Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
