BELLINGHAM, Wash. – There will be a Blossom Time Parade after all this year, but it will have a different name.

The local Marine Corps Capt Daniel B Bartle Detachment 1335 is stepping in after the Chamber of Commerce announced in January that it could no longer sponsor the parade.

Mac McMaster with the detachment says it will now be called the Whatcom County Memorial Day parade as it takes place on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.

The parade will start at the traditional time of noon that day and take the same route.

He estimates it’ll take about 30-thousand dollars to present the parade and they’re accepting donations for this year and coming years.

Donations can be made at the detachment’s website or checks made out to Bellingham Memorial Day Parade can be mailed to Marine Corps League Det. 1335, 1688 W Bakerview Road, Bellingham WA 98226.
