BELLINGHAM, Wash. – With word that the Children’s Health Insurance Program (“CHIP”)  is in limbo in Washington, DC, there may be some local relief for child dental needs.

Bellingham Technical College has announced a free clinic January 5th 8:30 – 11:0am with licensed dentists, to qualify local residents for reduced cost dental care; dental care for people who qualify is provided in a training setting.

The CHIP program, which provides dental care as well as medical care, was extended through March by Congress last Thursday with the authorization of an additional $2.85 billion spending to support it nationally.

The fate of the program is unknown after that.

The Medicaid and CHIP programs in Washington state listed over 830,000 children enrolled as of the end of October.
