Liverpool to Bellingham
Josephine was Jasmine’s aunt, from Liverpool, England.
Most of the names we’ve run for this month came from down the street. This one came from across an ocean, because somebody here loved her and wanted her name said out loud on the radio.
A magical, fairy of a woman. That’s how her niece describes her, and it’s a better line than anything we could write.
Jasmine was there
When Jasmine sent us her aunt’s name, she added this:
“To the memory of my Aunt Josephine Lee, who fought like heck to the last breath, of which I was able to witness. I’ll always remember you.”
She was in the room.
That’s a hard thing to carry and a harder thing to write down and hand to a radio station. We’re grateful she did.
