Shifting Gears hosts a weekly mountain bike ride for women that want to explore the trails of Galbraith Mountain every Monday from 5:30pm-7:30pm.

Rides are open to various experience and skill levels for all women (cis, queer, trans) that are 18 and older, regardless of riding experience, body size, and biking anxiety.  There’s a maximum of 8 riders plus two Shifting Gears leaders in each group, so the focus is on having fun and supporting each other.

Rides are available in different skill levels, so be sure to check out the website for more information and to register for the ride you want to be on.

Wild Things is an educational morning at a Bellingham Park, designed for kids 0-6 years old and their adults.  Wild Things takes place Fridays & Saturdays from 9:30am-11:00am.

In August, our local parks are ripe with recreational opportunities and places to explore! We always manage to find a hill to climb, search for banana slugs, and eat plenty of delectable berries in August.

We’re using lots of “Super Secret Spider Spray” this month to reveal the beauty of shimmering spider webs. Those discoveries are priceless!

Program is FREE, but there is a suggested donation of $10 per person, $20 per family.

Relax and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul during this busy season at a Sound Therapy event through Bellingham Parks & Rec.  Friday, August 28th from 5:30pm-6:30pm at the Bloedel Donovan Multipurpose Room in Bellingham.
Bring a blanket and yoga mat and enjoy soothing sound vibrations of Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, and bells for deep relaxation. Sessions are hosted by either Everitt Allen of Sound Therapy of the Pacific Northwest, Kristi Moseley of Mystic Heart, or Ruby Koa of Inspire Yoga.

The Pickford Film Center presents the Bay Street Cinema on Friday, August 28th, at 7:00pm!  This is the Pickford Film Center’s outdoor movie series right outside their flagship cinema.

Bring your chairs and get there early for entertainment, prizes, food and drinks before the film.  Films always start at dusk!

On Friday, August 28th, it’s “Sunset Flicks”! From the Pickford Film Center’s website:
“Silent movie shorts with live music performed by members of the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra. See comedy gold with Laurel and Hardy in Big Business (1929), and western drama with the legendary William S. Hart in Bad Buck of Santa Ynez (1915). Plus a Koko the Clown cartoon, stop motion animation by Ladislas Starevich, a French satire, and film of the Seattle waterfront shot in 1897. The live accompaniment will include new scores written especially for the evening’s show by local composers.”
