The Friends of the Deming Library will be opening their book room for browsing and purchasing on Saturdays from 10:00am-5:00pm in June, July & August!  (NOTE: There is no sale on Saturday, July 4th)

You’ll find a HUGE selection of books covering a variety of subjects and genres.  Books can be paid for using cash, checks, or the Give Butter donation websute.

Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Deming Library and their support of Deming Library programs and maintenance.

The book room is just outside of the Deming Library building.

The Everson Library hosts a Tech Help Hour / Hora de Ayuda Tecnológica on Saturday, June 13th from 3:00pm-4:00pm.

If you need support with a technological issue, they’ll have volunteers on hand that can help you out.  Call ahead to schedule a 30-minute one-on-one appointment to get your problem solved.

According to the Whatcom Library System’s website, some of the issues they’ll help you deal with include:

  • Downloading, streaming, or accessing WCLS digital resources
  • Basic computer, tablet, e-reader, or smartphone skills
  • Setting up and using email
  • Basic word processing and spreadsheet questions
  • Library catalog and online resources

The following topics are examples of what is beyond the scope of this basic service:

  • Diagnosing and fixing hardware problems
  • Recovering lost data, reconfigurations, or factory resets
  • Removing viruses or setting up device securitY

The Port of Skagit hosts Music in the Park @ SWIFT on Saturday, August 22nd from 5:30pm-8:00pm!

This is a FREE family-friendly event with musical performances by North Sound Soul, a 9-piece soul/funk/rock band with savvy musicians from Bellingham!  Plus, food, a beer garden, and picturesque setting at SWIFT Center, the former Northern State Hospital campus.

Food offerings are from local vendors and food trucks.  The Beer Garden is by Tipsy Trailer.

Bring your lawn chairs, friends and family for a great summer evening in the PNW!

You’ll hear tales of historical happenings and true crimes in the dark heart of Bellingham.

The tour is led by a costumed guide and runs appx. 1-1.5 hours.  Total distance is less than one mile.  After the tour, those over 21 will be eligible for drink specials at Amendment 21 at Hotel Leo.

Dancing Dana Carr, LLC, invites you to a Sunset Silent Disco on Saturday, August 22nd from 7:30pm-9:00pm at the Squalicum Boathouse in Bellingham.

Move to the music with your friends in the fresh air and enjoy the ocean view as you watch the sun set.  They’ll broadcast a diverse playlist on a radio transmitter that can be picked up on headphones.  Headphones will be available on a first come, first served basis.

This event is FREE and open to all ages, shapes, sizes, colors, genders, abilities, sexual identities, etc.  Wear comfy clothes and footwear.  FREE Parking is adjacent to the park.

The Whatcom Museum invites you on a historical tour of Old City Hall on Sunday, July 26th from 1:00pm-2:00pm.

These one-hour, docent-led tours start on the first floor and take you through the historical building that was built in 1892 and was Bellingham’s original city hall until the 1930s.  You’ll learn quirky facts and trivia and hear stories about the colorful characters that worked or passed through the iconic building.
