WELLNESS WEDNESDAY: Healthy Hydration

This is Dr. Carla Russo from The Pink Dahlia!

Today, we’re tackling a question we hear all the time—how much water should we really be drinking?

The World Health Organization and US Institute of Medicine recommend women have 8-11 cups and men 10-15 cups of water daily. Good news—this includes water from all sources. On average, we get about 4 cups daily from food and what our body produces.

That means women should drink 4-7 cups and men 6-11 cups of water each day, based on moderate physical activity and moderate temperatures.

As I tell my patients in my metabolic reset program at The Pink Dahlia, more is not always better, that holds true with water.

If you need extra motivation, here are some benefits of staying hydrated:

  • Improved physical performance: Water aids oxygen circulation, essential for exercise.
  • Clearer skin: Dehydration can cause dry, flaky skin. Drinking enough water keeps your skin healthy and radiant.
  • Better digestion: Water helps move waste through the digestive system and prevents constipation.
  • Weight management: Staying hydrated can help curb cravings and overeating.

Track your water intake and aim for your recommended amount.
