If you haven’t made the switch to LED light bulbs, consider making the small upfront investment to save money on your electric bill in the long run. According to Energy.gov, LED light bulbs use at least 75 percent less energy than incandescent light bulbs, and they last up to 25 times longer. A few other tips to save on your utility costs: wash clothes with cold or warm water rather than hot, unplug your electronics when you’re not actively using them, and using a programmable or smart thermostat to make sure the heat doesn’t get left too high when you’re not home.
