It may sound crazy, but we sometimes forget that coins carry value. If you have loose change in your wallet or purse, you’re more likely to spend it … or lose it in the depths of your car or couch cushions. By putting your excess change into a jar, instead of letting it get lost or discarded, you’re putting those small denominations to work for you. Once you have a healthy stash, you can take your coins to the bank and deposit them. Or use a Coin Star or similar type machine that counts the change for you. You can get cold hard cash for it, or, better yet, avoid the small service fee altogether and turn it into a gift card! More savings!
