Since 1998, Beloit College has released an annual Mindset List as a way of reminding professors of what their incoming freshman students are aware of. We put together a list of our favorites, but click the link for the full list. For the class of 2022:
• They have always been able to refer to Wikipedia.
• Investigative specials examining the O.J. Simpson case have been on TV annually since their birth.
• They’ve grown up with stories about where their grandparents were on 11/22/63 and where their parents were on 9/11.
• There has never been an Enron.
• The Prius has always been on the road in the U.S.
• They never used a spit bowl in a dentist’s office.
• There has always been a Survivor TV show.
• A visit to a bank has been a rare event.
• Thumbprints have always provided log in security.
• Oprah has always been a magazine.

• Films have always been distributed on the Internet.
• The Mir space station has always been at the bottom of the South Pacific.
