If you are not able to get a generic version of your medication, you still might be able to save money. Depending on the duration and frequency of your medication (and obviously what type it is!), ask your doctor to write you a prescription for a longer duration that you fill at the same time, which generally means you will only have to pay one co-pay instead of multiple. Alternatively, many doctors will try to help out their patients by giving them samples of expensive meds. Ask your doctor if there are samples available that you can use to help make your overall medication costs lower.
