The weekend belonged to two women who’ve been through it, and who are still here being exactly who they are. Here’s Day 3 and Day 4.
Day 3 — Elaine
Elaine survived breast cancer. She’s a stellar mother of four, and she has never stopped. Not once.
Amy, Elaine’s daughter, put it better than I could:
“No words can ever describe her strength and perseverance. I’ll be running and walking at least a mile all month and thinking about her amazing spirit we have all been so lucky to be around.”
That’s the whole idea of this month, right there in one sentence. Somebody out there is carrying a person with them on every mile.
Day 4 — Cathy
Cathy is the mom of Scott Less, afternoon host on our sister station KISM. When I asked Scott what makes him smile about his mom, it wasn’t her amazing cooking that he jumped to first, it was her love of the Broncos!
“My mom is a diehard Bronco fan, and created Bronco Sundays at home.”
So yesterday, we cheered for the Broncos. For Cathy. And we’d do it again.
Miss one?
Every dedication lands on our In Case You Missed It page, so you can catch up on any day you missed.
Come move a mile with us
We’re going all month. Run it, walk it, crawl it — treadmill, trail, a lap around the block with the dog. Any pace, any time of day. One mile is one mile, and it’s never too late to start.
Log your miles with the rest of us in the Run 31 Strava group, share them with #KAFERuns31, or text a photo to 360.676.5233. We love seeing them.
