My mom was visiting this past weekend and we packed a ton of stuff into the weekend! Some things I didn’t get pics of: wine & cheese Friday with my girlfriend, shopping in Fairhaven, a walk at Boulevard Park, re-organizing my kitchen cupboards, braving Costco, and a whole lot of Keith Morrison & Dateline. Here’s a few things I did remember to photograph…
Do you still put magnets on your refrigerator? Is that still a thing? It seems like with all the new fancy fridges out there, I never see anything on anyone’s fridge anymore. Not at my house! I have an old fridge FULL of them. My mom brought me this one. Mom’s are great a picking out inspiring fridge magnets.
Friday after work my mom had the brilliant idea to make emergency car kits after her former school made several hundred for their community. We loaded up on the supplies and got quite the assembly line going. Water, snacks, a toothbrush, utensils, kleenex, hand warmers & wipes, band-aids, gum, etc. These double as an emergency option to keep for yourself or to hand out to someone in need.
Saturday my mom tried to beat me at Cribbage with this amazing hand! Avid players know this is a near perfect combo of cards. Unfortunately for her, she still lost. Ha! My grandma taught us all how to play and we carry on in her memory. We love reminiscing about all the funny things grandma used to say during the game. Like a bad hand is ‘still better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!’
So…in an effort to shed a few carbs outta my diet, I bought a pack of these ‘Healthy Noodles’ at Costco. I’m kinda regretting it. Not sure why I felt the need to get a Costco-sized package of something I’m totally unfamiliar with. Do you have any experience cooking with them? I’d love to hear your recipe ideas after I read online that these types of noodles (shirataki) stink!
We rounded out the weekend with a Sunday night happy hour at Black Cat in Fairhaven. One of my favorite spots for happy hour–great food, great view, great people! Try the tempura green beans! Yum!
