The KAFE 104.1 family is sending love and support to one of our favorite listeners – Melvin Swagerty, known to us as “Captain Kaboom” for the fireworks tips and tricks he’s provided us over the years.

Melvin was seriously injured Sunday night after a shocking attack while working as a DoorDash driver. According to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, Melvin had stopped to offer a ride to a family walking along Highway 101 – two adults and seven children. Not long after, he was stabbed in the neck and pushed out of his vehicle.

Deputies found Melvin around 8 p.m. on Carlsborg Road, where he was rushed to the hospital and later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Thanks to quick response and medical care, he survived the attack, but faces a long recovery ahead.
