It’s the first week of November and that means it’s time to plant paperwhite bulbs for the holidays…especially if you’re planting them in soil. In 4-6 weeks, you’ll have white, fragrant flowers. Plant the bulbs so that the top is sticking out of the soil. Paperwhites have a tendency to grow tall and a little floppy. My Garden’s Sheryl recommends placing the new plant in a totally dark, cool spot for about a week or so to promote good root development and sturdy growth.
The easiest way to grow them is inside a glass vase using just pebbles and water. The water should be just below the bulb. Paperwhite roots will find the water. The rocks are to stabilize the plant, so the bulb does not need to be completely covered. Your beautiful plant will stay upright inside the glass.
