It’s a new year full of new beginnings, new friends, and new gardens.  That got Jenny at My Garden Nursery to think about WHY we garden.

Of course, the obvious answer is fresh fruits and veggies.  There’s also shade from the hot sun and beauty.  There’s also fresh air, physical fitness, and helping provide homes and food for wildlife or pollinator friends.  Gardening can provide gifts for loved ones and teaches about patience.

When Jenny was a kid, her dad would take a cutting of a hydrangea, her mom’s and her favorite plant, and would stick it in the garden.  In the following year, she swears there would be a hydrangea shrub growing in its place.  He was her magic gardener.  That’s why Jenny gardens…memories of being in the garden with her dad brings him close even though he’s been gone over 30 years.

Gather your friends and family around you.  Jenny suggests 2024 is the perfect time to start making memories!
