It’s Jenny from My Garden Nursery! Have you ever wondered why there are so many different types of planters…metal, plastic, cedar, ceramic and more? It DOES matter what kind you use for what kind of plant you’re planting!
-Cedar planters are great for large shrubs or trees and make a wonderful window box or deck planter. Cedar can last for years but start to weather after about 5 years. They hold enough soil, and the soil will hold its moisture. Because of their thickness, plants will have more protection over the winter.
-Clay or terracotta is great for cactus, succulents and plants that like to dry out a bit between watering. They also breathe better and most plants look fantastic in the warm colors of clay.
