GREEN THUMB THURSDAY: The Dirty Details on Soil

There are SO MANY soils to choose from…and it makes a difference in how your plants grow.

Starter soil is lighter than other potting soils to allow teeny roots to push through.  Organic raised bed and potting soils can be used for most indoor and outdoor containers.  Raised bed mixes are usually a little lighter and drain better and include chicken manure, bat guano, and worm castings.

Compost are amendments that enrich your existing soil to help your plants flourish in your garden.  Planting directly into compost is not recommended.  Adding compost every time you plant IS recommended, and one of the best things you can do.  Choose from soil building conditioner, mushroom compost, or worm castings.

Are you planting blueberries?  Blueberries want acidic soil.  Pick up a bag of Gardener & Bloom Acid Soil Mix.  Don’t miss the Blueberry Seminar THIS SATURDAY, February 17th at 11:00am at My Garden Nursery!
